ULTHERAPY
What is Ultherapy?
Even if you lose the excess weight you have been meaning to get rid of, it still doesn’t guarantee that you’ll lose it in specific areas, such as the chin, arms, thigh, or legs, because weight loss is an overall response of the body to stress. The concept of losing weight in specific areas is called spot treatment. It is a common misconception among lifestyle influencers who claim that with the help of specified workouts, they’ll lose fat in that area. In the world of science, there is no existing workout that does spot treatment. However, losing weight, specifically through cardio workouts, would lead to skin sagging or laxity. It is a natural process that occurs to you and me through moderate to extreme weight loss and aging. The skin sags when you lose weight because it no longer occupies the space in the body. Moreover, plenty of factors contribute to skin aging and laxity, but some factors exacerbate this and may make you look older than your actual age. As a result, your body begins to droop, which is why many individuals go for surgical lifts to address this.
However, that’s all in the past because non-surgical and non-invasive lifting treatments are now widely regarded as an excellent alternative to surgical lifting, especially surgical facelifts. In Korea, non-surgical and non-invasive treatments are superb alternatives to surgical treatments like rhinoplasty, facelifts, and liposuction, and they are exceedingly trendy. Furthermore, they are proof of Korea’s technological advancements in the cosmetological field. One of our most popular skin lifting treatments is Ultherapy.
Ultherapy is the combination of Ulthera, the device used for the treatment, and therapy, the procedure. In simple words, Ultherapy is the application of Ulthera as a mode of treatment. Ultherapy’s ability to lift the skin via a natural process with results close to facelifts sounds promising. Furthermore, there is no need to create any incisions to administer this treatment. Instead, the Ulthera triggers the innermost layer of the skin from the surface to stimulate collagen and elastin. It is also FDA and KFDA-approved and recommended procedure to use as an alternative to facelifts.
How does it work?
Ultherapy works by using Ulthera to trigger the regenerative properties in the body via focused ultrasound energy. The doctor will gently pat your facial areas that need lifting. Then, the Ulthera will showcase a specific point in your skin’s innermost layer and transmit the ultrasound waves to it with high precision. Ultherapy targets the SMAS layer of the skin. Then, its thermal energy stimulates the collagen, which helps the skin tighten.
At the AMOA640 Skin Clinic, we always ensure that you are compatible with our treatments through a face-to-face consultation with our doctor. This process enables us to determine if there are no present allergies or ailments that can hinder the success of the treatment. Nevertheless, Ultherapy is an FDA-approved non-surgical treatment that is available for all skin types and colors.
Before the procedure, our licensed technician will thoroughly cleanse the face to achieve the optimal results of the treatment. Afterward, they will spread an ultrasound gel throughout the skin to draw in the ultrasound waves more from the Ultherapy. Also, you may choose to have a topical numbing or not before the treatment. Then, it is up to the administering doctor to adjust the appropriate settings of the Ulthera suited to your skin condition. Please note that you may feel intermittent feelings of heat and tingling sensation throughout the procedure, albeit painless. Lastly, the technician will apply post-treatment creams (if there are any) and sunscreen for optimal protection.

Clinical trials
A clinical study was conducted to test the efficacy of Ultherapy in treating physiological changes that occurred due to skin laxity and aging and showed positive results. According to the data, twenty-two females with moderate to severe skin laxity issues were tested for the trial, and results showed that micro-focused ultrasound energy, found in Ultherapy, was well tolerated and did not alter other layers of the skin. Moreover, they noted significant changes just after a single session.
In another clinical trial, they tested Ultherapy’s effectiveness and safety as a non-surgical treatment modality for skin lifting. Results showed the same results. According to the data, they did not note any adverse and results have shown that collagen synthesis increased significantly, as well as other regenerative properties.
